Ubisoft shutting down servers for a number of old games

Multiplayer and some rewards will become inaccessible.

Ubisoft will shut down servers for a number of its older games over the year, it’s recently detailed.

A number of PC titles will lose multiplayer support from 1 June, and include the following titles:

  • Assassin’s Creed 2
  • Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands
  • Far Cry 2
  • Anno 140
  • Might & Magic – Clash of Heroes
  • Splinter Cell Conviction
  • The Settlers 7
  • Might & Magic X – Legacy

The titles above will lose multiplayer services and Player Stats services when this happens, though single-player content will remain available.

Later in the year, a number of Windows PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 will receive the same treatment and include:

  • Ghost Recon Future Soldier
  • Rainbow Six Lockdown
  • Rainbow Six Vegas
  • Rainbow Six Vegas 2

A date for that second wave of shutdowns hasn’t been named as yet.

Ubisoft Rewards for the above games will also become unavailable when servers are shut down; as a result, any Units normally awarded to a player for their competion will not be available.

What do you make of the shutdowns?
