Ubisoft is altering its straightwashing Assassin’s Creed DLC

Ubisoft will alter the Assassin’s Creed Odyssey DLC that straightwashes a player’s character, it has recently confirmed.

“After hearing player feedback and discussing within the development team we are making changes to a cutscene and some dialogue in Shadow Heritage to better reflect the nature of the relationship for players selecting a non-romantic storyline. These changes, along with renaming a trophy/achievement, are being made now and will be implemented in an upcoming patch,” Ubisoft said in a forum post.

Previous to this, Ubisoft had apologised for the DLC, in which your character — homosexual or heterosexual — is forced into a romantic heterosexual coupling that results in a child but said the DLC wouldn’t change.

While those wishing to play as a homosexual character were dismayed at the lack of player choice as part of the DLC, it looks like that will change shortly. Kudos to Ubisoft for considering player feedback.

Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4.
