Australia and New Zealand will have two teams at the Halo World Championship next year

Details for the Halo World Championship have been announced overnight with the tournament set to feature a crowd funded prize pool and two spots reserved for teams from Australia and New Zealand.

The Halo World Championship, the first to be played with Halo 5: Guardians, kicks off 6 December with an Open Ladder to determine who gets to compete in the Qualifier Cup in January. The 6 teams who pass the Qualifier Cup will then compete in the Regional Finals for their spot at the Halo World Championship and a shot at the impressive prize pool.

Currently sitting at $1.7m USD, the prize pool for the is being crowd funded via in-game Requisition pack (REQ) microtransactions. Currently the first place team will walk away with $680,000 USD, with that number set to grow in the coming months.

The two teams from Australia and New Zealand will join 14 other teams from US, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Greater Asia and Latin America and are guaranteed at least $15,000 USD just for attending.
