Two “Cosby Suite” developers no longer at Activision Blizzard

Including the namesake of Overwatch's McCree.

Update: Activision Blizzard has confirmed that the three employees named in yesterday’s report have indeed left the company.

“We can confirm Luis Barriga, Jesse McCree, and Jonathan LeCraft are no longer with the company,” an Activision Blizzard spokesperson declared.

“We have a deep, talented roster of developers already in place, and new leaders have been assigned where appropriate,” the spokesperson continued. “We are confident in our ability to continue progress, deliver amazing experiences to our players, and move forward to ensure a safe, productive work environment for all.”

Original story: Developers who were pictured in what Activision Blizzard employees dubbed the “Cosby Suite” are no longer with the company, a report from Kotaku alleges.

Kotaku cites a source who has confirmed that three developers — Jesse McCree, Jonathan LeCraft and Luis Barriga — no longer appear within the company’s internal directory or within the Slack messaging app. McCree and LeCraft were both featured in images of a BlizzCon hotel room named the “Cosby Suite” circa 2013.

Said hotel room belonged to World of Warcraft dev Alex Afrasiabi, one of a handful of people actually named within a lawsuit brought against Activision Blizzard by the Californian Department of Fair Employment and Housing.

Jesse McCree was most recently a designer on Diablo 4, but more notably is the namesake of the popular cowboy-styled Overwatch character. Jonathan LeCraft served as lead game designed at Blizzard, while Luis Barriga was working on Diablo 4 as well. Kotaku’s report doesn’t detail Barriga’s connection to the hotel room, or otherwise detail a possible reason for his departure.

We’ll have more on the situation as it progresses.
