THQ Nordic buys Koch Media, regains Saints Row, Metro and more

THQ Nordic has acquired Koch Media, and with it, the IP to franchises like Saints Row, Homefront, Metro, Dead Island and more.

The acquisition, made for roughly $150 million USD, will allow Koch Media and its subsidiary, Deep Silver, to operate “unchanged”, a press release states.

“Koch Media has a long history of profitability despite losses incurred from some less successful game releases,” Lars Wingefors, CEO THQ Nordic, said. “THQ Nordic is convinced that the development studios of Deep Silver as part of THQ Nordic will successfully deliver at least four ongoing AAA game projects including Metro Exodus as well as the next Volition Studio AAA release and the next Dambuster Studio AAA release, together with a number of other game development and publishing titles.”

So there you go. Long story short, THQ went bankrupt, had most of its IP bought out by Deep Silver, and now Deep Silver and its parent company Koch Media have been bought out by a newly re-formed THQ Nordic.
