The Alters Last Variable DLC coming 13 July

Yes, please.

The Alters will get new DLC in Last Variable, heading to all platforms on 13 July.

Spoilers for the main game follow.

“When all others choose to leave, Jan Scientist stays behind on the hostile planet he’s been trapped on with his alters to pursue what could be a life-defining research opportunity,” 11 Bit Studios said of the DLC. “Because this cannot be conducted alone, it becomes the narrative axis of the newest DLC.”

The content comes in the form of “a 20-hour expansion introducing new mechanics, an underground base to build, and a refined gameplay loop centred on terraforming parts of the planet into lush, oasis-like biomes, ” 11 Bit continued. “Last Variable will have you commanding a crew of brilliant minds that look like you, but don’t always think and feel like you.”

“Unravelling the mystery of the Oasis requires specialized analysis from specialized alters – a Geologist, Biologist, Chemist, or Physicist,” 11 Bit said.

“Yet each Jan has his own view on what science truly means. While you descend into a years-long cryosleep in your underground base, waiting for the planet’s scorching sun to retreat, those working in Field Labs don’t have that privilege. As they age without that protection, can the vulnerability of time still change them?”

Expect The Alters Last Variable from 13 July on Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5. The base game is also part of Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass.
