Telltale’s Game of Thrones is too big for just five episodes

In discussion with IGN, Telltale has said Game of Thrones was always too big to fit into their standard five episode season. Hence, it’ll run six episodes.

“As we got into it, we realized the arc was well-suited to a six-episode arc, with the first episode doing a lot of heavy lifting in introducing who these playable characters are,” Telltale’s Andrew Grant said. “Let’s give you a chance to know them, and grapple a little bit with the initial dilemma.”

“It felt like six episodes, given the scope and scale, was the right thing,” he added.

The first episode of Game of Thrones is expected in 2014.
