Take-Two is working on a “proven franchise”, but which one?

During its most recent earnings call, aside from celebrating the success of Grand Theft Auto V on both last and current-gen consoles, Take Two pointed to the return of “proven franchises.”

We already know that Borderlands 3 is happening and in June 2014 Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said that Red Dead is a permanent franchise. So, it could point to one of those or both. It could also be something else entirely as MMGN has hypothesised.

Suggesting Midnight ClubMafia and Max Payne as potential “proven franchises” MMGN also points out that while BioShock is certainly a contender, the closure of Irrational Games certainly puts that franchise out of action for the forseeable future.

While a new entry into any of the franchises would be most welcome, it’s Red Dead that would likely be the most sought after as the it’s been five years since the release of Red Dead Redemption.

What franchise would you like to see a new title for?
