Star Trek Picard NYCC 2022 trailer sets the tone

Get hype.

A new Star Trek Picard NYCC 2022 trailer has set the tone, giving us amazing looks at its villain(s?), the Titan-A, and much more.

First, Amanda Plummer will star as the season’s villain, Vadic.

Vadic is described by Paramount+ as “the mysterious alien captain of the Shrike, a warship that has set its sights on Jean-Luc Picard and his old crewmates from his days on the Enterprise.”

Another potential villain is none other than Moriarty. Yes, THAT Moriarty, the Sherlock Holmes holodeck program with sentience. Check out the TNG S2 episode “Elementary, Dear Data” and S6 episode “Ship in a Bottle” for more on him.

Finally, ONE MORE potential villain is in Lore, Data’s evil android brother, newly human-looking and played once again by Brent Spiner.

Outside of villains, there’s a lot going on. Captain Riker appears to be in command of the Titan-A (or at least giving orders on its bridge). The trailer also makes Star Trek Online‘s Enterprise-F, an Odyssey-class vessel, canon in the live action Star Trek universe, something sure to make fans (and myself!) very, very happy.

In the NYCC (New York Comic Con) panel accompanying the trailer, it was also confirmed that Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut (Cruel Summer) and Mica Burton (Critical Role) will be portraying Geordi LaForge’s daughters. Chestnut is LaForge’s eldest and helmsman of the Titan-A, while Burton (yes, LeVar’s actual daughter) is one of his own engineering colleagues.

Check it all out below.

Star Trek Picard airs on Paramount+, Prime Video, or Crave depending on where you are in the world. Here in Australia, it can be accessed on both Paramount+ and Prime Video.
