Square Enix set to reveal “several titles” at E3; Final Fantasy XV not included in current fiscal year

In its financial report to investors, Square Enix revealed that it plans to unveil several titles at E3, most of which will be aimed at western audiences.

President Yosuke Matsuda said, “Launches in FY2016/3 will mainly be titles for the Western market. We are planning several releases of major titles in the second half. We expect the competitive environment to be tough, with our competitors announcing big titles in the E3 in June. We believe our titles can fully compete with these big titles.”

The report also makes note of those games which will be launching this fiscal year. For Holiday 2015 the report mentions Rise of the Tomb and Just Cause 3, while games with a TBA release date are Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness and Dragon Quest: Heroes. We now know however that Dragon Quest Heroes will be launching in October.

Interestingly, the release note for Rise of the Tomb Raider only mentions Xbox One and not Xbox 360. Just Cause 3 and Deus Ex are listed for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Notably absent from the listings is Final Fantasy XV which many fans hoped (and possibly expected) to be released this year. What this lack of mention means is that FFXV likely won’t launch before April 2016.

We’ll know more about Square Enix’s line-up after their press conference at E3. Stay tuned.
