Spotify subscriptions are getting another price increase

Again?

Less than a year after hiking up the prices of its subscriptions, Spotify will do so again, it has told customers via email.

The streaming service is sending emails advising of the following changes to its current subscription tiers:

  • Single plans: $1 AUD/month increase to $13.99 AUD
  • Duo plans: $2 AUD/month increase to $19.99 AUD
  • Family/Premium plans: $3 AUD/month increase to $23.99 AUD

“We’re increasing the price of Premium Family so we can continue bringing you the best experience,” reads an email sent to me. “You’ll continue to get the benefits that you know and love today, like ad-free music listening and downloading to listen offline.”

Reports suggest that Spotify is increasing subscription pricing to cover the cost of audio books, a service introduced late in 2023. Reports also suggest that Spotify will allow individual users — but not family plan users like yours truly — the chance to sign up to an audio book-free subscription.
