Sonic Mania: Sonic goes back to 2D for his 25th anniversary

Sega used the San Diego Comic-Con to introduce two new Sonic properties.

The first, Sonic Mania, celebrates 25 years of the franchise, bringing the beloved blue hedgehog back to 2D.

Featuring 2D-style pixel art and limiting characters to Sonic, Tails and Knuckles, you can take a look at Sonic Mania in action below:

What do you think? A touching tribute to the series, or copies of the earliest Sonic games?

Sonia Mania heads to Windows PC, PS4 and Xbox One in autumn 2017.

Sega also announced the 3D Project Sonic.
