The Settlers returns to PC in March

Welcome back!

The Settlers will make its triumphant return on PC this March, Ubisoft has recently proclaimed.

“Developed by Ubisoft Düsseldorf, The Settlers returns as a reboot mostly inspired by The Settlers 3 and The Settlers 4,” Ubisoft said in a statement.

“Players can expect a fresh take on the new The Settlers, built from the ground up using Ubisoft’s proprietary Snowdrop Engine,” the statement continued. “Traditional and new players will experience lush and colourful environmental biomes, as well as modernised gameplay. Players can enjoy The Settlers in one of three game modes: single-player campaign, Onslaught and skirmish (Solo vs. AI, co-op vs. AI or PvP featuring up to eight players).”

A closed beta will take place between 20-24 January on Windows PC via the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Connect. Players will be able to take part in a tutorial, 1v1 and 2v2 battles using two playable factions. If you’re keen to try, you can pre-load the closed beta from tomorrow, 18 January.

The Settlers was first released on the Amiga in 1993 by Blue Byte. Ubisoft has owned the IP since 2001.

Expect this new The Settlers reboot from 17 March on Windows PC via Ubisoft Connect and the Epic Games Store.
