Sega is considering $70 USD current-gen games

Is it time to up prices?

Sega is considering the same $70 USD price tag for current-gen games as used by a number of other publishers including Sony, Microsoft and 2K.

Sega head Haruki Satomi and CFO Koichi Fukazawa made the confirmation during a recent Q&A session that followed its financial results.

Explaining that Sega’s titles “have been sold at $59.99 for many years,” the pair said a price increase could be on the cards.

“We would like to review the prices of titles that we believe are commensurate with price increases, while also keeping an eye on market conditions,” the pair said.

“Also, for titles that are planned to be offered via subscription services, revenue made via contract deals are also included in sales figures, so we would like you to be aware that when these figures are divided by the number of units, there is an apparent impact on the increase in unit price.”

Here in Australia, a $70 USD price tag seems to range anywhere from $110 to $125 AUD.
