NeoGAF sexual assault allegations take site offline

NeoGAF, the uber-popular gaming forum, has been offline for most of the past 24 hours after allegations of sexual assault have been levelled at its owner.

Things got dicey earlier in the week when allegations of sexual assault were made against site owner Tyler ‘Evilore’ Malka over Facebook. Those comments were made publicly available via Imgur this weekend, receiving massive exposure.

As the weekend progressed, posts referencing the alleged assault grew in numbers, with many attempting to ask Evilore for his side of the story. The site then jumped between online and offline statues since approximately 12.00 am EST on Sunday morning.

It’s believed that most of the site’s moderators have resigned from their posts in the midst of the scandal.

Malka has faced allegations of sexual assault in the past, even taking to the forum to detail one such event himself.

“I laughed because drinks here were all of two Euros,” Malka wrote, referencing a trip to Spain in 2012, “but consented and then grabbed her ass hard to show that I wasn’t being taken advantage of, and she thought better of treating me as a mark and left without taking her drinks.”

NeoGAF began life as the new forum for Gaming-Age Forums, and quickly became the go-to for gaming discussion. A large number of gaming industry veterans take to the forum to post breaking news, updates or simply leak information to the general press.

While USGamer reports that NeoGAF is preparing a statement on the issue, nothing has been distributed as yet. At the time of writing, NeoGAF is offline, throwing up a 503 Service Unavailable error.
