Is Capcom playtesting Resident Evil 3 Remake with RE Ambassadors?

Update: Resident Evil Ambassadors in the USA are now being invited into this playtest alongside Japan Ambassadors, it’s been confirmed.

Over the weekend, Biohaze that USA-based RE Ambassadors were beginning to receive the same email originally sent to those in Japan. At present, fans believe this is either a playtest for a remade Resident Evil 3 or either a sequel to the Resident Evil: Revelations or core Resident Evil franchises. No matter the game, Resident Evil fans should be pretty happy right about now.

Original story: Capcom is playtesting an unnamed title with Resident Evil Ambassadors, leading many to believe a Resident Evil 3 Remake in the vein of this year’s Resident Evil 2 is on the way.

“Today, we are letting you know that we are recruiting testers for a game that’s in development,” an email from Capcom to select RE Ambassadors read. “We are interested in incorporating the feedback of all Ambassadors into our development, so please read the details below and, if you are interested in participating, click the Entry button.”

Sadly, the offer was only extended to those within Japan, and as we mentioned the name of the game to be tested hasn’t been detailed as yet.

Resident Evil 3 was first released to the original PlayStation back in 1999. The title served as a bit of a side-story to Resident Evil 2, featuring original protagonist Jill Valentine before and after the events of the second game in the franchise. We covered development of Resident Evil 1.5, 2 and here.

We’ll let you know as more of this secretive Capcom title is known. In the meantime, are you excited about the possibility of a remade Resident Evil 3?
