Resident Evil 7: Grotesque Version is a CERO Z-rated version made for Japan

At Tokyo Game Show, Capcom has confirmed Resident Evil 7: Grotesque Version, a CERO Z-rated iteration of the game for Japan.

A Z rating is in Japan is equivalent to an R18+ rating here in Australia.

In Japan, the game’s Deluxe Edition will feature the vanilla and Grotesque versions of the game, alongside pre-order bonuses.

It’s unclear if Japan’s Grotesque Version is an amped-up version of the game, or if it’s merely the same version other regions are already getting. Despite being more graphic with the original Resident Evil, the franchise has tended to self-censor in Japan, as compared to other regions, since Resident Evil 4.

We’ll keep you posted.

With endless thanks to Alex!
