Resident Evil 4 remake changes Ashley’s escort missions

And adds knife durability!

The Resident Evil 4 remake will make a massive change to Ashley’s escort missions by removing the NPC’s health bar.

The news comes from Game Informer, which recently launched a special RE4 digital edition.

Thanks to the mag, we now know that Ashley will still be able to take damage during escort missions; when she’s hit too many times, she’ll enter into a downed state that requires Leon revive her. If Ashley takes additional damage in the downed state, she’ll die and it’s game over.

A Capcom rep said the change was done to make Ashley “feel more like a natural companion and less like a second health bar to babysit”.

Moreover, RE4 remake will also feature knife durability, meaning you won’t be using the same weapon all throughout.

The Resident Evil 4 remake will be available on Windows PC via Steam, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4 and PS5 from 24 March 2023.
