Speaking with Gamespot, Bethesda’s Pete Hines confirmed that the new Prey reboot has zero influence from the never-released Prey 2.
“There is not a single element of Prey 2 in [the new Prey], other than aliens running amok and you’re being hunted by aliens,” Hines said.
Hines also stressed that Prey is “an immersive first-person action game” as well as “a system-based game that [Dishonored developer] Arkane is known for.”
Prey 2, a sequel to the original Prey, was cancelled back in 2014. It received its fair share of critical acclaim throughout its lifetime.
The new Prey heads to Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4 in 2017.
