Pokémon Let’s Go! confirmed for Nintendo Switch

Pokémon Let’s Go! was today announced at a press conference held in Japan today.

The first core Pokémon game to feature on Nintendo Switch, Pokémon Let’s Go! will feature elements from the classic Pokémon franchise alongside new features from Niantic’s Pokémon Go.

Pokemon Let’s Go! Pikachu and Let’s Go! Eevee

Let’s Go! is inspired by Pokémon Yellow: Special Pikachu Edition, which first launched in Japan in 1998.

“Inspired by” are the keywords there, as Nintendo has confirmed this is a new title and not a remake. The original Pokémon’s 151 Pokémon will feature in the title alongside select Pokémon from the Alola region, Nintendo confirmed. A “never-before-seen”Pokémon will also feature.

Pokémon Let’s Go! will come in two flavours — Let’s Go! Pikchu and Let’s Go Eevee — and is one of two Pokémon games planned for this year; Pokémon Quest, for both Switch and smartphones, was also announced by Nintendo today.

Depending on the flavour chosen, your player Trainer will have either Pikachu or Eevee riding on his or her back throughout the game. Moreover, Nintendo has confirmed the game will feature co-op play, with two players able to adventure at the same time.

Players will also be able to transfer Kanto region Pokémon caught in Pokémon Go into Let’s Go!, Nintendo has confirmed.

The title will not feature battles with with wild Pokemon, it was also confirmed.

The title does not support online multiplayer, but local multiplayer is supported, Nintendo confirmed in a later Q&A. Moreover, the game will offer multiple save slots per Switch account so different users can play on a single Switch.

New PokéBall Plus Joy-Con

A new PokéBall Plus Joy-Con peripheral will also be offered alongside the game.

It will function much like a traditional Joy-Con but will also tie into the Pokemon Go smartphone title, as per a tweet from the Pokémon account.

Pricing

Nintendo Australia confirmed that Lets Go! will cost $79.95 AUD per title, and thePokéBall Plus will retail for $69.95 AUD.

We’ll have more on Pokémon Let’s Go! as it becomes available.

Pokémon Let’s Go! Pikachu and Pokémon Let’s Go! Eevee will be available from 16 November on Nintendo Switch.
