Pokémon Go’s year one anniversary event increases Fire- and Ice-type drops

Pokémon Go will celebrate one year of catching ’em all with a special anniversary event.

The Solstice Celebration Fire and Ice event will start at 6.00 am AEST on 14 June, just in time for E3. The event will finish on 21 June here within Australia.

The event, as you might expect from its name, will increase the spawn rates of both Fire- and Ice-type Pokémon, as follows:

Fire-type Pokémon

  • Arcanine
  • Chamander
  • Charizard
  • Charmeleon
  • Cyndaquil
  • Flareon
  • Growlithe
  • Houndour
  • Magcargo
  • Ninetales
  • Ponyta
  • Quilava
  • Rapidash
  • Slugma
  • Typhlosion
  • Vulpix

Ice-type Pokémon

  • Cloyster
  • Dewgong
  • Jynx
  • Lapras
  • Piloswine
  • Seel,
  • Shellder
  • Sneasel
  • Swinub

Moreover, Trainers will gain increased XP from “Nice”, “Great” or “‘Excellent” Pokéball throws.

Finally, Lucky Eggs will be discounted in the Shop. Prices are as follows:

  • 1 Lucky Egg: 40 Poké Coins (was 80)
  • 8 Lucky Eggs: 250 Poké Coins (was 500)
  • 25 Lucky Eggs: 625 Poké Coins (was 1250)
