PlayStation games on PC years later is “acceptable” to fans, says Jim Ryan

Bold choice.

PlayStation games released to PC years later is “acceptable” to fans, PS head Jim Ryan has told Famitsu.

Speaking with the site (via IGN), Ryan said that Sony understands “the importance of PS5 exclusive titles” including God of War Ragnarok and the upcoming Spider-Man 2, and squashed the notion they’d be released on PC at the same time.

“PlayStation Studios’ main responsibility is to make games for the latest PlayStation hardware that players will enjoy,” Ryan continued, indicating a strategy of more PS5 exclusives and staggered “release of… PC versions”.

Ryan’s comments mirror those of PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst, who last year said there would be a one-year release gap between Sony titles on PS5 and PC.

“It’s been really great for [PlayStation Studios] teams to see their wonderful creations also being released on PC,” Hulst said at the time. “There are more players and that’s really helpful.

“I think going forward we’ll see at least a year between releases on [Playstation] and on the PC platform, possibly with the exception of live-service games.”

What do you make of Sony’s strategy, PC gamers?
