Plague Inc. community raises over $76,000 for charities fighting Ebola

Plague Inc. developers Ndemic Creations started a campaign back in November to raise money to fight Ebola. Despite their enjoyment of destroying the world with cruel and unusual viruses, the community of Plague Inc. have risen to the challenge and raised over $76,000 for charities fighting Ebola in West Africa.

Interestingly Ndemic Creations claim downloads of Plague Inc. increased 52% in the first week the Ebola outbreak was reported, with one million more players that week than previous. It is encouraging to see a developer both use their game as an awareness tool for how quickly infectious diseases can spread and using their increased audience for good by promoting charity.

Plague Inc. is available for PC, iOS and Android, released in 2012. An updated edition, Plague Inc. Evolved, is due out for PC 20 February and Xbox One later in the year.
