Overwatch: Competitive Play coming soon, more animated shorts too

Blizzard’s Jeff Kaplan took to Facebook recently to discuss Overwatch ahead of the game’s release in scant minutes.

Kaplan said that Competitive Play, recently cut from the game’s beta and final release, will be added back to the mix in mid to late June as part of a big update.

The mode will feature seasons longer than a month, as per fan requests. Kaplan expects each season to last around two and a half months, with a week or two break between seasons.

Kaplan also mentioned that the animated shorts, used to detail the game and its heroes, will continue on. Blizzard also hopes to tell the story of Overwatch in graphic novels and in-game events.

Overwatch goes live at 9.00am AEST today on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4.
