Oceanic League of Legends skin will be released very soon

Oceanic Riot Games employee Daniel “CptStupendous” Ringland dropped some information today over on the League of Legends about the regionally inspired skin for the Oceanic server.

When Riot Games was rolling out new servers worldwide back in 2013 they would release themed skins for each region that represented it in some way. Turkey got Sultan Tryndamere, Brazil got Ghost Bride Morgana and so on but when it came to the new Oceanic server things were a bit tougher. “We had some discussions with the skins team to do this for Oceania,” says Ringland over on the Oceanic League of Legends boards, “but it soon became clear this would take a long time and we didn’t want to hold up the launch, so we unlocked Pool Party Ziggs as a bonus for coming over to the new OCE server.”

It was no small task deciding on a skin theme that represented the whole region and not just Australia, causing the skins development to be held up for some time. It now seems the skin is almost ready to hit the Public Beta Environment, meaning its reveal and eventual release will happen sooner rather than later.

Unlike other regionally inspired skins, the one for Oceania will not be free. “There was also an expectation that this skin would be available for free,” said Ringland. “We really should have clarified this earlier for everyone. Because we already offered a free Pool Party Ziggs for everyone who transferred, we’re not going to unlock another free skin server skin.” Fear not though, Riot will be using the funds generated by this new skin to donate to a charity of the players choosing.

You can read the whole post yourself over on the boards where you can also cast your vote for which charity will benefit from the proceeds. If the teaser image is anything to go by we may be getting a shiny new skin for one of my personal favorites Kassadin. We’ll keep you updated.
