No, Star Trek Picard isn’t really the show’s title

Star Trek Picard is merely a working title for the upcoming CBS All Access show, its first director has confirmed.

There’s been a bit of confusion over the title of the show, which will feature Patrick Stewart reprising his role as Star Trek: The Next Generation‘s Jean-Luc Picard. Last month, Star Trek: Discovery’s Sonequa Martin-Green was confident Star Trek: Picard was the show’s actual name, but director Hanelle Culpepper has shot that down.

“That’s not the official title; just a placeholder,” Culpepper wrote to a fan who asked the question.

Moreover, trade mag Production Weekly has revised its listing of the show, dropping Star Trek: Destiny as a potential moniker for the show.

Whatever it’s really called, the Star Trek Picard show is set to begin production next month. While the show itself is expected to begin airing in 2019, a proper release date hasn’t been set. Three additional cast members have been confirmed alongside Stewart, including Aussie Evan Evagora.
