Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata dead at 55

Nintendo today announced that Satoru Iwata, the company’s President and CEO, died on Saturday. He was 55.

Nintendo stated that the cause of Iwata’s death was a bile duct growth. Iwata took time off last year around E3, undergoing surgery to remove said growth.

Iwata-san also missed this year’s E3, but health complications were not named.

Iwata was the fourth President of Nintendo, taking over from longtime head Hiroshi Yamauchi in 2002.
