Nintendo: We’re looking to provide third-party support for amiibos

In conversation with IGN, Nintendo of America Licensing Manager Damon Baker said that the company is currently looking into third-party access for amiibos and their functionality.

Baker said a number of third-party publishers have registered a “ton of interest”, adding, “there are some really creative ideas that are coming through and we are working towards some opportunities for next year.”

Nintendo’s Skylanders-like amiibos will be released at the end of the month and will work with games like Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart 8 and Hyrule Warriors.
