NHL 19 Stanley Cup sim predicts the Toronto Maple Leafs as champs

NHL 19 has predicted that the Toronto Maple Leafs will win the Stanley Cup this year.

EA’s pre-season simulation resulted in the Maple Leafs beating Erik Karlsson and the San Jose Sharks in the Stanley Cup final.

In terms of post-season awards, the simulator has given the Maple Leaf’s John Tavares as the Conn Smythe Trophy winner (aka the NHL’s playoff MVP). Moreover, the Edmonton Oilers’ Connor McDavid was awarded the Hart Trophy as the MVP of the regular season and also the Art Ross Trophy as scoring champion.

The sim also awarded Erik Karlsson with his third Norris Trophy as the NHL’s top defenceman. While the Maple Leafs’ William Nylander, above, didn’t walk away with any individual trophies, we’re sure he’ll be okay with the Stanley Cup and being Sweden’s NHL 19 cover star.

The simulation says the Los Vegas Golden Knights will take home the Presidents’ Trophy this year — it’s given to the team with the highest number of regular season points.

Time will tell is the simulation proves true… and we’ve got a bit of a wait on our hands — the Maple Leafs kick off the NHL regular season tomorrow.

NHL 19 is available now on Xbox One and PS4. We reviewed it here.
