NHL 16 enters open beta next week for returning EA Sports Hockey League mode

After being absent from NHL 15, the EA Sports Hockey League will make a welcome return in NHL 16 when it launches later this year. To ensure the mode runs smoothly, EA Canada is taking the mode into a public beta next week; a first for the franchise.

The beta will be open to the public on both PS4 and Xbox One, but only for those fans who purchased NHL 15. To download the beta, players will need to access the main menu of NHL 15 and select the beta option from 30 July through 6 August.

The mode’s return is partially in response to the feedback received from fans and the community regarding NHL 15’s barebones features. “It was an opportunity for us to reset the EA Sports Hockey League with NHL 16 and ensure that we’re delivering an experience that our fans wanted,” said Producer Sean Ramjagsingh.

EA Sports Hockey League is a co-operative/competitive mode in which players join with others to create teams completely comprised of human controlled players. By playing together, teams are able to rise through the ranks and take out the top spot.

NHL 16 will be available for PS4 and Xbox One on 15 September.
