New Zach Cregger Resident Evil movie gets first teaser trailer

And it looks spooky!

The first teaser trailer for Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil movie is now available, and it has everyone talking (for good or bad).

“From the mind of visionary filmmaker Zach Cregger (Weapons, Barbarian) comes a thrilling — and terrifying — reinvention of the Resident Evil franchise,” Sony Pictures Entertainment said alongside the trailer.

“In an all-new story, Resident Evil follows Bryan (Austin Abrams), a medical courier who unwittingly finds himself in an action-packed, non-stop race for survival as one fateful, horrifying night collapses around him in chaos.”

As you can see above, the trailer has less to do with the Resident Evil games we know and love and looks to run parallel with it, evoking the themes and feelings a player has with the franchise rather than recounting its steps. As a longtime fan, I’m very okay with this.

What do you make of the trailer above? Sound off in the comments section, below.

Expect Resident Evil in cinemas from 18 September.
