New Rock Band DLC offers more hints of a franchise revival

Harmonix announced two new downloadable songs for Rock Band will be available this week, adding to the speculation that a Rock Band franchise revival is imminent.

The two songs are Tenacious D’s “Rize of the Fenix” and Weezer’s “Back to the Shack”, both conveniently referencing returns and comebacks. That is probably not a coincidence, as the Harmonix blog hints.

Both tracks will be available on Xbox 360 and PS3 from today, and can be played in both Rock Band 3 and Rock Band Blitz. This is further to the previous DLC announcement and a revealing survey of what fans want in a current-gen Rock Band game. Start believing people, the plastic instruments are coming back.
