The new MacBook Pro sports OLED Touch Bar, USB-C and Thunderbolt 3

Today’s Apple event unveiled the new MacBook Pro — thinner, lighter and sporting a bunch of futuristic innovations.

First, the laptop sports an OLED touch strip — called the Touch Bar — which sits atop the keyboard. It will offer contextual controls, depending on your action. The bar also has a Touch ID button, located on its far right.

The laptop does away with traditional USB ports, instead offering Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C compatible options.

In Australia, here are the configurations available:

  • $1,999 AUD: 13″ screen, 2.7GHz Intel Core i5 Processor, 128GB SSD storage, 8GB 1866MHz RAM, 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports
  • $2,199 AUD: 13″ screen, 2.0GHz Intel Core i5 Processor, 256GB SSD storage, 8GB 1866MHz RAM, 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports
  • $2,699 AUD: 13″ screen, 2.9GHz Intel Core i5 Processor, 256GB SSD storage, 8GB 2133MHz RAM, Touch Bar, 4 Thunderbolt 3 ports
  • $2,999 AUD: 13″ screen, 2.9GHz Intel Core i5 Processor, 512GB SSD storage, 8GB 2133MHz RAM, Touch Bar, 4 Thunderbolt 3 ports
  • $2,999 AUD: 15″ screen, 2.2GHz Intel Core i7 Processor, 256GB SSD storage, 16GB 1600MHz RAM, 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports

The new MacBook is available from today, without Touch Bar, and within 2-3 weeks with the Touch Bar.
