New exploit for GTA Online on PC leaves game open to cheating

Modder LondonTown2004 has discovered a potentially huge exploit for the PC version of GTA Online. Thanks to the reintroduction of temporary characters players can now subvert bans and cheat, troll and cause mischief to their hearts content.

The exploit relies on temporary characters created when “95% or more of server assets are temporarily 404’d (Not Found) or 500’d (Internal Error).” Currently the game is programmed to refuse access to GTA Online if this happens but according to LondonTown2004 that will change in a future update. This exploit will allow a player to “create disposable characters, cheat cash and stats and troll other players as much as you’d like and it will not be saved or recorded.”

GTA Online has already had a slew of problems with cheaters and “hackers” so let’s hope Rockstar nip this one in the bud as soon as possible. You can read all of LondonTown2004s’ breakdown of the exploit here.
