NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 is the new name of NBA Playgrounds 2, 2K has today confirmed.
Greg Thomas, President of 2K’s Visual Concepts said the original game was “a fantastic throwback to the glory days of arcade-action sports” and that NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 “will step up this energy and attitude big time.”
NBA Playgrounds 2 was first announced in April, but it was delayed just days before its original May 22 release date. At the time, developer Saber Interactive said “there are exciting things brewing with the NBA Playgrounds franchise that we think will take arcade basketball to new levels.”
Alongside the new publisher and name change comes a new release date — NBA Playgrounds 2 is now expected later this year on Windows PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Switch. The game was originally expected back in May, but was delayed just days before its 22 May release date.
