Indigenous artist Allan McKenzie puts NBA 2K22 shoe up for charity auction

And you can bid on it next week.

Gamilaroi and Wiradjuri Indigenous artist Allan McKenzie has designed a one of a kind NBA 2K22 inspired shoe that will be placed into auction in support of the Red Dust charity next week.

McKenzie’s custom Adidas Harden Stepback 2.0s will be up for auction between 12.00 pm AEDT on 21 February through until 12.00 pm AEDT on 2 March on the Red Dust eBay page (we’ll provide a link when available).

“I’m honoured that 2K asked me to collaborate on one of their most popular games, which drove most of the inspiration behind the design of the shoe along with the game of basketball,” McKenzie said. “It’s amazing to be able to have my designs auctioned off to a cause close to my heart, that ties in so well with NBA 2K22.”

“As we commence delivery of Red Dust’s Healthy Living Program in remote communities this year we’re excited to partner with Allan and 2K for this unique initiative,” added Red Dust’s Scott Stirling. “Basketball is deeply embedded in Red Dust’s history. Our founder, John Van Groningen, was closely connected with the NBL and our first visits to remote communities involved NBL star players as volunteers. Their efforts inspired hundreds of athletes to follow suit across 25 years, engaging in inspirational two way exchanges with thousands of young Aboriginal kids in remote communities.”

All proceeds from the auction will go to Red Dust to aid in its mission: to inspire positive change in remote Indigenous communities through a unique “community-as-family” model of health and well-being programs. If you’d like to donate to Red Dust directly, you can do so here.

NBA 2K22 is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5 and Switch.
