A new Mortal Kombat 11 time travel trailer explains why multiple versions of the same character can exist and fight one another alongside reveals of favourite Cassie Cage, Jacqui Briggs and more.
The trailer revolves around the game’s “time-bending narrative that continues the franchise’s epic saga,” Warner Bros. detailed in a press release. “In Mortal Kombat 11, Raiden’s defeat of the evil Elder God, Shinnok, has drawn the ire of Kronika and upset her desired balance between good and evil. To restore stability in the realms, Kronika has only one option – rewind time to its beginning and restart history.”
Basically, it all means Scorpion can fight Scorpion and second-generation characters like Cassie Cage and Jacqui Briggs can fight alongside younger versions of their parents. The trailer adds to the game’s confirmed roster, which now includes the following fighters: Cassie Cage, Jacqui Briggs, Erron Black, Scorpion, Raiden, Sub-Zero, Sonya Blade, Skarlet, Baraka, Geras, Kano, D’Vorah, Kabal, Jade and Johnny Cage. Jacqui’s father, Jax, has yet to be confirmed.
