Minecraft console update brings The Simpsons to Playstation, more achievements to Xbox 360

The latest Minecraft update for consoles is adding a bunch of new content for all systems. An alternate player skin character, red haired woman Alex (who first appeared in the PC version last year) is coming to all consoles. She makes a welcome alternative to long time Minecraft protagonist Steve and is an attempt from developers Mojang to better “represent the diversity of our playerbase.”

Also coming with the latest console patch are more Xbox 360 achievements, to bring the Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions to parity, and The Simpsons skin pack for Playstation owners. Xbox owners have been enjoying the Simpsons content for a few months. You can read the full details at the Mojang site, with the patch to be available Wednesday.
