Michelle Visage takes over as host of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under

RuPaul no more.

Michelle Visage will take over as host of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under, formerly hosted by the show’s namesake. The move will mark the first time in Drag Race‘s 15 years that Visage will play the role of permanent host.

“It has been my great honour to bring Drag Race to Australasia,” RuPaul said in a press release issued by Stan. “I can’t wait to see the franchise flourish under the leadership of the incredible Michelle Visage.”

“Thank you, RuPaul, for entrusting me with one of your beloved shows,” added Visage herself. “The colour, humour and outrageousness of Down Under drag holds a special place in my heart. I’m ready to do everything in my power to encourage these beautiful queens to believe in themselves and let their inner light shine through.”

Visage will be joined by returning judge Rhys Nicholson, and the pair will also enlist other drag queens to serve as mentors for those competing.

Stan has promised more about the upcoming season, including information on competing queens and guest judges, “soon”.

The first three seasons of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under are currently available on Stan.
