Melbourne Esports Open adds Fortnite to proceedings

The Melbourne Esports Open will add Fornite to its list of attractions, TEG and ESL today announced.

Across 1-2 September, the event will offer a dedicated Fornite Stage at Margaret Court Arena, “with activity from the stage being broadcast in front of a live audience & online. Fans will also have the chance to play alongside popular content creators on stage, with competitive matches running continuously over eight hours on each show day,” a press release today declared.

Prizes will be up for grabs for best performances in all-ages dance competitions on the Fortnite Stage.

Fortnite will also feature as part of the Fortnite Free-Play Field, “an area within the JB Hi-Fi Game On Zone that will offer attendees the chance to get hands-on at one of twenty consoles that will be available for play across the weekend.”

“We are very excited to announce that we will be showcasing Fortnite across both days of the Melbourne Esports Open on a dedicated stage in Margaret Court Arena” said Tim McGregor, Managing Director TEG Live. “For us, this was the final piece of the puzzle in making MEO 2018 a truly epic event for Australian gaming fans of all ages.”

Taking place over 1-2 September at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena, tickets for the Melbourne Esports Open are now on sale via Ticketek. Prices start at $19.90 AUD for juniors and $29.90 AUD for adults. Family day passes start at $79.90 AUD.
