Mana Bar Melbourne employees: Expect a Pozible campaign for a new Melbourne-based games bar very soon

In a recent interview with the MMGN and Stevivor Friendly Fire Cast, Brand Manager Skaidris Gunsmith once again confirmed the closure of the Mana Bar Melbourne, but provided gamers with hope of a new establishment to take its place.

Just don’t expect the new bar to keep the name.

“We [Gunsmith and fellow employee Bonnie Bradley, pictured above… with pickles] were looking at the rights to be able to use the name, but under our ownership and control,” Gunsmith admitted.

The pair ultimately decided it would better to start afresh. “We’re basically looking for a new name and we want to… market our own brand,” he said.

“We know all those things [that people said didn’t work],” he asserted. “The problem is, we worked for the front of the company and had no say.”

Gunsmith proposes some simple, yet effective changes to the proposed new space. “Our first immediate plan is to get multiple, really good, well priced beers on tap,” he said. “A longer bar with seats, so you can sit at the bar [or] you can sit at a booth…”

The new bar will also try to cater to board game players.

The pair have been spending their off-hours brainstorming new bar names and locations. Once plans are locked in, Gunsmith said to expect a short, yet aggressive Pozible campaign to fund the endeavour.

“This is a miracle spot which has just fallen into our lap. It’s basically twice the space of Mana Bar at the moment, and it’s cheaper rent,” Gunsmith said, referring to a centralised Melbourne CBD location. “We basically want to lock it down by the end of the month.

“Which means, if we want to do it, we’re looking at starting the campaign for this stuff next week. We’re getting project managers in, we’re getting interior designers to look at stuff… we can’t go to Pozible without a realistic price that we need.”

We’ll of course keep readers in the loop with more news about this potential bar — and how you can help crowdfund it — as it develops.

The Mana Bar Melbourne closes down on Saturday 21 September. The Mana Bar Brisbane remains open for business as usual.
