Madden NFL 25 and FIFA 14 Ultimate Teams transferable between current and next-gen

If you’re the kind of person who simply can’t wait for the next-gen versions of Madden NFL 25 and FIFA 14 then EA have revealed some great news for you.

Polygon are reporting that Ultimate Team items in both games will be transferable between the current — PS3 and Xbox 360 — and next-gen — PS4 and Xbox One — versions of the game. Ultimate Team mode allows you to build a fantasy team by using trading cards within the game. Once your team is constructed you can take it online and compete with other Ultimate Teams to earn in-game currency.

In Madden, players will be able to transfer 1,100 items — 100 active items (55 players, 45 additional items) plus 1,000 reserve items — from current to next-gen. The transfer only works one way and is only allowed to happen once. Once the transfer is complete, you’ll still be able to use the items on current-gen Madden, but will be unable to trade or auction them off from the PS3 or Xbox 360 version.

In FIFA, your entire Ultimate Team will carry over, along with any in-game coins, items, trophies, and FIFA points. Any changes you make on either version will be reflected across both.

Madden NFL 25 will be available for PS3 and Xbox 360 on 27 August 2013 and on PS4 and Xbox One after they launch.

FIFA 14 will be available for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on 27 September 2013 and on PS4 and Xbox One after they launch.
