Despite all of the positive steps Esports is taking these days a dark side still exists. In a report released yesterday by The Daily Dot, it was revealed that European League of Legends player Marcin “Kori” Wolski had been threatened with the loss of his mother’s house by his organisation’s management.
It began with a payment dispute that last season when Kori was playing for Supa Hot Crew, a team owned by AK3 GmBH. Kori found himself wanting to leave the EU scene and head to North America. Unfortunately he’d already been securely contracted to his new team Meet Your Makers, who happen to have many employees of AK3 in their staff. He informed team management of his desire to leave and they reacted rather poorly.
In a phone call which Kori himself recorded the organization’s manager Sebastian “Falli” Rotterdam can be heard getting angry when informing Kori of the consequences of his departure. He can be heard hitting walls and desks before finally threatening the 17 year old Kori with the loss of his mothers house if he didn’t return to play for MYM.
After this Kori reached out to Rioter Nick Allen, providing him with the recording and screen caps of the Skype conversations.
Meet Your Makers can expect a harsh punishment now that this has come to light.
