Laurence Fishburne joins The Witcher Season 4

Alongside Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia.

Liam Hemsworth won’t be the only new face inside The Witcher Season 4 — Laurence Fishburne has been confirmed to play Regis, a 400-year-old higher vampire and friend of Geralt of Rivia.

Regis first appeared within Baptism of Fire, the third book in author Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher series. He also appears in the fourth and fifth books, The Tower of the Swallow and The Lady of the Lake, respectively, and has even been named dropped within The Witcher game series.

“I’m very excited to be joining the cast and look forward to exploring the wondrous world of The Witcher,” Fishburne, who’s best known for roles including Morpheus in The Matrix film series, told Netflix.

Fishburne will of course join Liam Hemsworth as a newbie to the series; Hemsworth is famously taking the role of Geralt of Rivia over from Man of Steel‘s Henry Cavill.

“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4,” Cavill said in an announcement way back in October 2022.

“In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf,” Cavill continued. “As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men. Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find.”

The Witcher Season 4 is expected to film later this year and should grace our screens in 2025. Seasons 1-3 are currently available on Netflix.
