Latest Bungie Weekly Update details the big changes coming to one of Destiny’s most maligned PvP events

The latest installment of the Bungie Weekly Update is here and has some big changes for Iron Banner. For the first time ever Iron Banner will be played in the Clash playlist rather than Control. No more will Shaxx mock you for not “holding the zones” when you’ve held 2 out of 3 for most of the match, now it will only be kills that count towards your teams score.

Bungie have clearly been listening to the players and have shaken up Iron Banner accordingly. A new game type isn’t the only change, Bungie is also retooling reputation gains for the duration of the Banner and introducing faction packages when a player reaches certain levels. These packages will contain standard Iron Banner gear as well as a new Iron Banner artifact and ghost shell.

The new Gear Manager is available now on Bungie.net and makes it considerably easier to shift gear around between characters and your vault. The Gear Manager is still in beta so it won’t be perfect — just don’t lose our gear — but it does have some pretty cool features such as “maximise light” to play with.

Finally Bungie hinted at a few new changes coming to Destiny in the next update. The most interesting of these is definitely the new Refer-a-Friend program that aims to encourage verterans to bring new players to Destiny. There’s a mention of possible rewards but no details yet. Lord Shaxx will also start selling all 3 Legendary swords once you’ve completed the Exotic sword quest, which is nice for the completionists out there.

That just about wraps up this weeks update, if you want to read the whole thing yourself or check out the videos of the week, you can do so here.

Good luck out there Guardians.
