Whoopsie!
A fullscreen, in-game ad for Assassin’s Creed Mirage that popped up in other Assassin’s Creed titles over the Black Friday weekend was a technical error and has since been disabled, Ubisoft has said.
Users took to social media over the weekend to complain of a 20% off Mirage ad that displayed when trying to access things likes a map. A Twitter video, below, shows this happening when a user attempted to access the map within Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.

“It appears that Ubisoft is experimenting with in-game advertising for some users (Xbox and PS),” the user wrote (as translated from French). “[If you] are in the middle of your game, go to pause or Map and a 3 second ad for another game appears.
“Enough to uninstall?”
In a statement made to Eurogamer, Ubisoft said the ad was “a technical error”.
“We have been made aware that some players encountered pop-up ads while playing certain Assassin’s Creed titles yesterday,” a Ubisoft spokesperson declared. “This was the result of a technical error that we addressed as soon as we learned of the issue.”
While the error may leave a bad taste in your mouth, don’t let that dissuade you from checking out Mirage. Ben loved it, writing “Assassin’s Creed Mirage hits the spot.
“It reins in the endless expansion and has very clear direction,” Ben continued.”It’s a much simpler game with a stealth focus, and many of its mechanics would feel at home in 2010 – if Ubisoft told us this was a remaster of an unreleased game from that era, we’d easily believe it.”
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4 and PS5.
