A new game titled I’m Positive, the result of the Centers for Disease Control’s Health Game Jam, strives to give gamers the experience of learning you may test positive for HIV.
The game, the winner of the Game Jam it was created inside, starts as you receive a call from a former sex partner with the unfortunate news. You’re then tasked to navigate through a series of events as you work to confirm your own HIV status.
In addition to attempting to portray a realistic idea of what it’s like to deal with the prospect of being HIV positive, the game seeks to inform gamers about the virus, including how it is spread and how you can to minimize your risk of exposure.
As the game’s own website states, the Centers for Disease Control will be conducting a study on the efficacy of the game later this year.
I’m Positive is free to download for Windows PC, Mac and Linux, and will soon head to Android and iOS.
