Idris Elba to play Knuckles in Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Christmas has come early.

None other than Idris Elba will play Knuckles in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 2 feature film, the actor himself today confirmed.

Elba, who is currently starring as Bloodsport in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, took to Twitter with the news.

“Knock, knock…. [Sonic Movie 2] [Knuckles],” he wrote alongside the image featured above.

Elba portrayed the main character in the TV series Luther and appeared as the Asgardian Heimdall in a range of Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will also feature fan-favourite Miles ‘Tails’ Prower; it’s unknown if Colleen Villard will reprise the role she portrayed in the original film’s mid-credits sequence. Ben Schwartz (Sonic) Jim Carrey (Dr Robotnik) and James Marsden (Tom Wachowski) will all return for this sequel.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is expected in theatres in April 2022.
