HP’s getting into the gaming market with the OMEN range

HP today launched the OMEN family of gaming desktops, laptops and accessories, entering a market currently dominated by Razer and Dell’s Alienware ranges.

The OMEN X desktop, the OMEN 17 laptop and OMEN with SteelSeries accessories have been designed as high-end gaming products.

“The OMEN X Desktop was built for serious gamers who need fierce performance out-of-the-box in a fully customisable chassis – something not typically available from traditional PC manufacturers,” said Jeff Woodhouse, consumer category manager, Personal Systems, HP Australia. “HP’s engineers combined a unique design that maximises thermal management with support for industry standard components so that the true enthusiast can always be up to date with the latest hardware to maintain peak performance with a customised rig.”

The The OMEN X desktop (above, left) boasts up to dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080, an i7 with overclocking capability and a VR-ready GPU. Available in October, it’ll retail starting at $4,499 AUD.

On the laptop front, the 17.3” OMEN 17 laptop (above, right) will sport an NVIDIA GeForce GTX card, will support 4K display resolution and will weigh in at under three kilograms. Also available in October, the laptop’s base model starts at $1,999 AUD, though a model with an updated graphics card starts at $3,699 AUD.

Moreover, OMEN by HP with SteelSeries accessories will also be available from October. You’re looking at $119 AUD for the OMEN Headset, $159 AUD for the OMEN Keyboard, $89 AUD for the OMEN Mouse and $29 AUD for the OMEN Mouse Pad.
