Hideki Kamiya taking Bayonetta “to the grave”

That is, if he has his way.

Hideki Kamiya will take his ideas for Bayonetta to the grave… if he has his way, that is.

Kamiya said he’d be leaving PlatinumGames back in September, and while the studio will likely continue the money-making Bayonetta franchise without him, he won’t be helping.

“I worked on Bayonetta 1, 2, 3 and Origins. I’ve talked about this in various interviews, that the Bayonetta series would consist of a total of nine episodes, and that I wanted to grow the franchise as the Bayonetta ‘Saga’, but it seems like I may have to take the full saga to the grave with me,” Kamiya said (via translation).

We already actually know that another Bayonetta game is in the works: Kamiya himself made that admission back in 2022.

“I didn’t think it was unexpected at all, but it seems that the ending of Bayo 3 wasn’t conveyed correctly to everyone,” Kamiya said at the time. “So I think Bayo 4 will be an unexpected development for everyone.”

Back in October, Kamiya confirmed he’s on a non-compete clause and unable to work on video games for the next year. Instead, he’ll use the time to produce YouTube videos like the one that’s revealed this tidbit.

If you want to check out Kamiya in his element, the video is below.

The latest Bayonetta is Bayonetta Origins Cereza and the Lost Demon, a Nintendo Switch exclusive that was released back in March.
